Ego Kills

There was once a learned scientist..

After a lot of practice and efforts, he developed a formula and learned the art of reproducing himself. He did it so perfectly that it was impossible to tell the reproduction from the original.

One day while doing his research, he realized that the Angel of Death was searching for him. In order to remain immortal he reproduced a dozen copies of himself. The reproduction was so meticulous that all of them looked exactly like him.

Now when this Angel of Death came down, he was at a loss to know which of the thirteen before him was the original scientist, and confused, he left them all alone and returned back to heaven.

But, not for long, for being an expert in human nature, the Angel came up with a clever idea. He said to the scientist addressing all thirteen of them, "Sir, you must be a genius to have succeeded in making such perfect reproduction formula of yourself. However, I have discovered a flaw in your
work, just one tiny little flaw."

The scientist immediately jumped out and shouted, "Impossible! where is the flaw?" "Right here" said the Angel, as he picked up the scientist from among the reproductions and carried him off.

The whole purpose of the scientist and his formula of reproduction failed as he could not control his pride and lost his life.

So while one's Knowledge and Skills takes one to the top of the ladder and makes one successful, however the three letter word "EGO" can pull one down immediately. Let go one's Ego.

The 99 Club

Once upon a time, there lived a King who, despite his luxurious lifestyle, was neither happy nor content.
One day, the King came upon a servant who was singing happily while he worked. This fascinated the King; why was he, the Supreme Ruler of the Land, unhappy and gloomy, while A lowly servant had so much joy. The King asked the servant, " Why are you so happy?"

The man replied, " Your Majesty, I am nothing but a servant, but my family and I don't need too much - just a roof over our heads and warm food to fill our tummies."
The king was not satisfied with that reply. Later in the day, he sought the advice of his most trusted advisor. After hearing the King's woes and the servant's story, the advisor said, " Your Majesty, I believe that the servant has not been made part of The 99 Club."

"The 99 Club? And what exactly is that?" the King inquired.

The advisor replied, " Your Majesty, to truly know what The 99 Club is, place 99 Gold coins in a bag and leave it at this servant's doorstep."

When the servant saw the bag, he took it into his house. When he opened the bag, he let out a great shout of joy... So many gold coins! He began to count them. After several counts, he was at last convinced that there were 99 coins. He wondered, " What could've happened to that last gold coin?
Surely, no one would leave 99 coins! " He looked everywhere he could, but that final coin was elusive. Finally, exhausted, he decided that he was going to have to work harder than ever to earn that gold coin and complete his collection.

From that day, the servant's life was changed. He was overworked, horribly grumpy, and castigated his family for not helping him make that 100th gold coin. He stopped singing while he worked.

Witnessing this drastic transformation, the King was puzzled. When he sought his advisor's help, the advisor said, " Your Majesty, the servant has now officially joined The 99 Club. " He continued, " The 99 Club is a name given to those people who have enough to be happy but are never contented,
because they're always yearning and striving for that extra 1 , telling themselves:

*"Let me get that one final thing and then I will be happy for life."*

We can be happy, even with very little in our lives, but the minute we're given something bigger and better, we want even more! We lose our sleep, our happiness, we hurt the people around us; all these as a price for our growing needs and desires. That's what joining The 99 Club is all about."

Look at the other Side.

A Father was reading a magazine and his little daughter every now and then distracted him. To keep her busy, he tore one page on which was printed the map of the world. He tore it into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again.

He was sure she would take the whole day to get it done. But the little one came back within minutes with perfect map... When he asked how she could do it so quickly, she said, "Oh... Dad, there is a man's face on the other side of the paper... I made the face perfect to get the map right." she ran outside to play leaving the father surprised.

Moral of the Story:

Friends, There is always the other side to whatever you experience in this world. This story indirectly teaches a lesson. That is, whenever we come across a challenge or a puzzling situation, look at the other side... You will be surprised to see an easy way to tackle the problem..

Life is full of opportunities. Always grab the first one.

A young man wished to marry the farmer's beautiful daughter. He went to the farmer to ask his permission. The farmer looked at him and said, "Son, go stand out in that field. I'm going to release three bulls, one at a time. If you can catch the tail of any one of the three bulls, you can marry my daughter."

The young man stood in the field awaiting the first bull. The barn door opened and out came the biggest, meanest looking bull he had ever seen. He decided that one of the next bulls had to be a better choice than this one, so he ran over to the side and let the bull pass through.

The barn door opened again. Unbelievable. He had never seen anything so big and fierce in his life. It stood pawing the ground, it eyed him. Whatever the next bull was like, it had to be a better choice than this one he thought. He ran to the fence and let the bull pass through.

The door opened a third time. A smile came across his face. This was the weakest bull he had ever seen. This one was his bull, he said to himself. As the bull came running by, he positioned himself just right and jumped at just the exact moment. He threw his hands to grab..... But alas.... The bull had no tail.

Moral: Life is full of opportunities. Always grab the first one.

You Are a Masterpiece

"A plum once said, 'just because a banana lover came by, I converted myself into a banana.

Unfortunately, his taste changed after a few months and so I became an orange.

When he said I was bitter I became an apple, but he went in search of grapes.

Yielding to the opinions of so many people, I have changed so many times that I no more know who I am.

How I wish I had remained a plum and waited for a plum lover.'

Just because a group of people do not accept you as you are, there is no necessity for you to strip yourself of your originality.

You need to think Good of yourself, for the world takes you at your own estimate.

Never stoop down in order to gain recognition.

Never let go of your true self to win a relationship.

In the long run, you will regret that you traded your greatest Glory - your uniqueness, for momentary validation.

Even Gandhi was not accepted by many people.

The group that does not accept you as YOU is not Your world.

There is a world for each one of you, where you shall reign as king /queen

by just being yourself.

Find that world... In fact, that world will find You.

What water can do, gasoline cannot and what copper can, gold cannot.

The fragility of the ant enables it to move and the rigidity of the tree enables

it to stay rooted.

Everything and everybody has been designed with a Proportion of uniqueness to serve a purpose that we can fulfill only by being our unique self.

You as you alone can serve your purpose and I as I Alone can serve my purpose. You are here to be you... Just YOU.

There was a time in this world when a Krishna was required and he was sent;

A time when a Christ was required and he was sent; a time when a Mahatma was Required and he was sent; a time when a J.R.D.Tata was required and he was Sent.

There came a time when you were required on this planet and hence you were sent.

Let us be the best we can be.

In the history of the universe, there has been nobody like you and to the infinity of time to come, there will be no one like you.

Existence should have loved you so much that it broke the mould after making you, so that another of your kind will never get repeated.

You are original. You are rare. You are unique. You are a wonder. You are a masterpiece. .. Your Master's piece. Celebrate your Uniqueness.

A child was crying. His father was trying to distract him to no avail. "I don’t want to wear these torn out shoes.", the child screamed inconsolably. "All my classmates wear new pair of shoes. They run like deer and laugh at pointing to my shoes.", the child said innocently.

The father was a poor man with limited means. He wanted his child to be happy and contended with whatever he had, but assured that he will get a new pair of shoes the next month. When the child was adamant, the father told the boy that he would get them repaired. The child felt happy as he thought the cobbler won't repair his shoes as they were beyond repair.

They reached the cobbler’s place "Do u play a lot child" asked the cobbler, smilingly. "I do and just let us know can you mend them or not", the child asked in a rude manner. "The shoes are still in good condition and just need a quick fix", the cobbler assured, looking at the shoes appreciatively.
The child become very angry.he wanted to use harsh words as the cobbler had spoiled his plans of buying new shoes. He thought that now he cant persuade his father into buying a new pair of shoes. "Are there some jewels on my shoes that you are staring for them for so long", the child screamed. "No my child, I used to play a lot before I lost my both legs in an accident. But I don’t feel subdued. I enjoy watching young children like you and thank HIM for these eyes", the cobbler replied calmly.

The child was shocked. He was staring at the cobbler and his amputated legs. Suddenly he looked at the sky. His eyes were moist and hands were open . It seemed as if he was saying "Thanks for everything...."

The father smiled and mumbled. "You have learned an important lesson of life". And the two went home happily and contended.

Secret To Happiness

The old man shuffled slowly into the restaurant. With head tilted, and shoulders bent forward, he leaned on his trusty cane with each unhurried step.

His tattered cloth jacket, patched trousers, worn out shoes, and warm personality made him stand out from the usual Saturday morning breakfast crowd. Unforgettable were his pale blue eyes that sparkled like diamonds, large rosy cheeks, and thin lips held in a tight, steady smile.

He stopped, turned with his whole body, and winked at a little girl seated by the door. She flashed a big grin right back at him. A young waitress named Mary watched him shuffle toward a table by the window.

Mary ran over to him, and said, "Here, Sir. Let me give you a hand with that chair."

Without saying a word, he smiled and nodded a thank you. She pulled the chair away from the table. Steadying him with one arm, she helped him move in front of the chair, and get comfortably seated. Then she scooted the table up close to him, and leaned his cane against the table where he could reach it.

In a soft, clear voice he said, "Thank you, Miss. And bless you for your kind gestures."

"You"re welcome, Sir." She replied. "And my name is Mary. I"ll be back in a moment, and if you need anything at all in the mean time, just wave at me!"

After he had finished a hearty meal of pancakes, bacon, and hot lemon tea, Mary brought him the change from his ticket. He left it lay. She helped him up from his chair, and out from behind the table. She handed him his cane, and walked with him to the front door.

Holding the door open for him, she said, "Come back and see us, Sir!"

He turned with his whole body, winked a smile, and nodded a thank you. "You are very kind." he said softly.

When Mary went to clean his table, she almost fainted. Under his plate she found a business card and a note scribbled on a napkin. Under the napkin was a one hundred dollar bill.

The note on the napkin read...

"Dear Mary, I respect you very much, and you respect yourself too. It shows by the way you treat others. You have found the secret of happiness. Your kind gestures will shine through those who meet you."

The man she had waited on was the owner of the restaurant where she worked. This was the first time that she, or any of his employees had ever seen him in person.

GOD Is One

He is the one God, hidden in all beings, all-pervading, the Self within all beings, watching over all works, dwelling in all beings, the witness, the perceiver, the only one, free from qualities.
Svetasvatara Upanishad
6.11
*
He is the Sole Supreme Being; of eternal manifestation;
Creator, immanent reality; fearless and rancourless; timeless and unincarnated; Self-existent; realised by the grace of the holy preceptor.
Adi Granth
*
Say, He is God, the One!/ God, the eternally Besought of all!/ He neither begets nor was begotten./ And there is none comparable unto Him.
Quran
*
There is only one God; all the 'gods' are but His ministering angels who are His manifestations.
Michi-no-Shiori
*
God is one; there are not many Gods, one for each tribe among men. Once we surrender our mind to God completely, He will take care of us in every way.
Sathya Sai Baba
*
Don't think of God in terms of forms, because forms are limited and God is unlimited.

Bad Company Good Company

Live with people who are blissful, so that you can have a little whiff, a taste. You will have to live in satsang. You will have to look into the eyes of someone who has arrived, so that you can have a little taste - a little sweetness enters into your being, and you can see. A great longing arises in you, seeing that life is not all misery - that nirvana is possible.

Osho

*

Iron turns to rust if it seeks the company of soil. It glows, softens and takes on useful shapes, if it enjoys the company of fire. Dust can fly if it chooses the wind as its friend. It has to end as slime in a pit, if it prefers water. It has neither wing nor foot, yet it can fly or walk, rise or fall, according to the friend it selects.

Sathya Sai Baba

*

Better be alone than in bad company.

10 Tips To Have a Long Lasting Relationship

10 Tips To Have a Long Lasting Relationship

Here are 10 Tips for Having a Long Lasting Success in Relationships

1. Celebrate the small stuff.

"It's not enough that your partner knows that you take pride in her or her accomplishments. You have to show it. Making a fuss over the small, good things that happen everyday can boost the health of your marriage."

2. Learn how to fight productively.

"The key to fighting productively is to recognize when a disagreement is going in the wrong direction and to take steps to calm things down and repair rifts."

3. Silence is not golden.

"By staying quiet and avoiding conflict when things bothered them, they had missed important opportunities to cultivate and grow their relationship."

4. Don't put negative thoughts into the universe.

"Men and women who had pondered thoughts of divorce in 1980 were nine times more likely to have gotten divorced by the end of the study."

5. Plan together.

"Couples who planned a baby's arrival or who were equally joyous at becoming parents were far more likely to maintain their marital happiness or even enjoy an increase after the baby was born."

6. Maintain a circle of friends and support.

"Strong friendships outside the marriage can take the pressure off your relationship, help you work things out away from your spouse, and ultimately protect your marriage from unnecessary stress and discord."

7. Overcompensate for mistakes.

"Do marriage math. Even when you make a mistake, tell yourself that you're going to do at least five positive things for your spouse to make up for it, and then do them. And don't wait until you bicker to turn on the charm. Nice gestures and comments go far in a marriage, they are easy to do, and they will help insulate your marriage from being damaged by the inevitable bad days."

8. Set the marriage bar high.

"Husbands and wives who hold their partners to a reasonably high standard have better marriages. If you expect a better, more satisfying relationship, you improve your chances of having one."

9. Give it a break.

"Sometimes, improving your marriage means giving it a break. Increasing your connections with family, friends and society is good for your marriage."

10. Be aware of your body language.

"Eye rolling is a painfully obvious sign of contempt, and it's a powerful predictor that your relationship is in serious trouble."

Pray Admit and Re Live

Prayer is not asking. It is a longing of the soul. It is daily admission of one's weakness.
M K Gandhi
*
The spirit of philosophy is one of free inquiry. Its function is to trace the uncritical assumptions of human thought to their hiding places, and in this pursuit it may finally end in denial or a frank admission of the incapacity of pure reason to reach the ultimate reality.
Muhammad Iqbal
*
It's important to let our kids know we are aware of our inadequacies. You have nothing to lose in honestly admitting to them that you didn't do everything correctly as a parent. The admission may be the key to opening communication and beginning the process of healing your relationships with your kids.
Stephen Arterburn and Jim Burns
*
To keep your marriage brimming, With love in the loving cup,
Whenever you're wrong, admit it; Whenever you're right, shut up
Ogden Nash
*
To err is human; to admit it, superhuman.

The Power of Gaytri Mantra

Gayatri Mantra can cleanse and energise your body, mind and soul.

The Gayatri Mantra glides through the three states of consciousness joyfully, playfully, effortlessly and lightly, as though it were a song. When we 'sing through' something, it means it is not a burden for us. "Gayanti traayate iti gayatri." The mantra affects all three states of consciousness — jagrut or waking, sushupt or deep sleep, swapna or dream. It also affects the three layers of existence — the adhyatmik, adidhaivik and adibhautik. Traya also refers to the taapatraya or ailments or taapa that adversely affect the body, mind and soul. The body is often ravaged by physical ailments, the mind by negativity and restlessness in the soul. Gayatri Shakti, the energy or field of vibration enables one to transcend and be unaffected by the taapatrayas.

Inner and outer glow
The Gayatri sharpens the intellect and polishes memory. The mind is like a new mirror. Just as a mirror gathers dust and needs cleaning, so the mind becomes tainted with time, the company that we keep, the knowledge we receive and our latent tendencies. When we chant the Gayatri, it is like deep cleansing, so that the mirror, that is the mind, reflects in a better way. Through the mantra, the inner glow is kindled, the inner plane is kept alive. One gains brilliance in both inner and outer worlds.

The Gayatri mantra has 24 letters corresponding to the 24 vertebrae of the spine. The backbone is what provides support and stability to the body. Similarly, the Gayatri mantra brings stability to the intellect.

Gayatri Shakti is an energy field and is the culmination of three energies — tejas or radiance, yashas or victory and varchas or brilliance. When you chant the Gayatri, these energies manifest in you and you also gain the power to bless. The energies are also transmitted to the one receiving the blessings.

All seeds have the potential to become a tree. Some we are aware of and these are available to us like the bija or seed mantras. Some are fully expressed, together with its fruit, like the Gayatri. A seed can develop into a sprawling tree. Similarly, the syllables of the Gayatri, contain in a nutshell, all the possibilities of creation.

Positive vibrations
Before thought becomes word, it is a subtle vibration, unexpressed, beyond the cognition of mind. When the mind is unable to 'cognise', it dissolves and moves into meditative space. This is how mantras enable one to transcend the mind and move into a state of meditation. It is not necessary to understand the meaning of the mantras to experience their benefits. For instance, even the sounds of laughter or weeping can cause a shift in our consciousness. Similarly, the energy field created by sound vibrations of mantras elevate our consciousness and allow us to be established in that serene, pure, infinite state of our Being.

In Vedic tradition, a child is first initiated to the highest knowledge —the Gayatri mantra, and only after that, does he receive other forms of education. The ideal time to chant the Gayatri is during the transitory hours of dawn and dusk — the time when it is neither dark nor light — such as when the night has passed and the day is yet to begin. In these moments, the mind also enters an altered state of consciousness. The moments belong neither to the previous state nor to the next. It is the right time to focus on the Self instead of getting caught in changes or movement. In these hours, the mind can easily be confused; it can slip into inertia, lethargy and negativity or be elevated and move into a meditative state radiating positivity. Chanting the Gayatri mantra rejuvenates the mind and maintains it in an elevated and energised state. It is this energising from the source of radiance that is the essence of the Gayatri mantra whose shakti is nothing other than scintillating, lively energy.
