On action alone be thy interest Never On Its Fruits

On action alone be thy interest, Never on its fruits.
Let not the fruits of action be thy motive, Nor be thy attachment to inaction.

Bhagavad Gita.2.47

Your work is to discover your work and then with all your heart to give yourself to it.

Gautama Buddha

*

It's the action, not the fruit of the action, that's important. You have to do the right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there'll be any fruit. But that doesn't mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no result.

M K Gandhi

We are either too preoccupied with the burden of past failures or engaged in daydreaming about our future. Both are futile exercises in the sense that one cannot be undone, while the other is unknown, unless we take care of our todays... Constantly nagged by unfulfilled longings, real or imaginary grievances, we are unable to concentrate on basic tasks that require immediate attention.
